Blackjack is a fast paced card game where your aim is to top the dealer. It is always your individual cards against the dealer. If you get more total points without busting, you win. If you don’t, you lose.
The object of blackjack is to beat the hand of the dealer without going over twenty one total points. The dealer will give you two cards face up. The dealer will deal himself or herself two cards with one up and the other card face down. Your ability to see just one dealer card sets up the wagering. The first bet is placed based on your original two cards versus the two original cards of the dealer. The hitch is you can only see one.
The game is predicting if your current set of cards will be good enough to beat the dealer. It takes good concentration and math skills to figure out what could potentially be next for you and the dealer. You aren’t aware of the value of the face card. That could impact the game and your winnings drastically. You won’t see the card until after you have completed your hand.
What the player needs to do is get a high total point value without going over twenty one. This way the player can have greater odds to beat the dealer hand. The deck consists of fifty two cards and no jokers. Aces can equal one or eleven points. Kings, Queens and Jacks equal ten points. The other numbered cards equal their individual number.
The dealer gives the players at the table their cards first before taking any. A player can opt to take cards to get as close to twenty one as possible. If the player goes over, he busts. If the player busts, he automatically loses the bet. If the player gets to a perfect twenty one points, the dealer move on to the next player. Since twenty one is a perfect score, there is no need to deal any more cards to that player.
The dealer will then draw cards to reach seventeen or more. If he busts, all players at the table win if they haven’t busted. If the dealer gets a higher hand without busting, he wins. If you get the higher hand without busting, you win. The odds are even for most hands on blackjack.
What is a push? A push is when you tie the dealer. Your bet is then refunded.
How do you win more on one bet? If you draw two identical cards(suited or not), you can call for a split. You then use each individual card to form a new chance to get to twenty one. The only hitch is you have to place another bet for the new cards. It is possible to split again with two more identical numbered cards. You can split Aces as well. Two Aces will equal two or twelve at the initial deal. The same applies to when you split them.
Getting blackjack is the object of the game. Blackjack is when you land twenty one on the first two cards. You can reach this with an ace and any ten point card. For example, an Ace and Ten equal blackjack. An Ace paired with a King, Queen or Jack also equal Blackjack. The payout is usually one and a half times your bet. A player wagering ten dollars will earn fifteen on a blackjack. There is one hitch. If the dealer gets twenty one with his first two cards then it’s called a push.
If the blackjack dealer gets an Ace as his face up card, he will ask the table for Insurance. If you win with Insurance you will earn double your bet or two to one.
Doubling down is another option for wagering. You can double down for your first card after the original two. The best odds of winning a double down are when you originally have ten or eleven points. A ten point card could give you twenty. An Ace could give you twenty one if you have ten combined from your first two cards. Reaching twenty one is the ultimate goal because you can’t lose money. The dealer can only push with another twenty one. You have to double your bet typically with a double down before seeing your next card. Some blackjack games offer a double down for less.
The hands come fast and furious in blackjack. It’s meant to be a quick thinking game. The dealer will shuffle at a casino routinely. This makes sure the players are getting new cards with new combinations. Each new hand is another opportunity to wager differently. It is always you against the house. Everyone seated at the table has an opportunity to individually win against the dealer.
There are many individual strategies for playing blackjack. There is a large school of thought that dealers bust more when their original face up card is a six or less. Since the dealer will need to draw to seventeen or more, the odds are more in your favor he or she will bust with multiple high cards.
Other strategies for blackjack consider what you should do with splits and double downs. A good double down opportunity is usually when you have ten or eleven total. With a potential ten point card, you could reach twenty or twenty one and be hard to beat. Some double down on lower valued cards if the dealer has six point or less on his face up card. This wager will help you win double the amount if the dealer does bust or finish with less total points than you.
You can also do a double down on a split. A player might consider this more with a split that equals ten or eleven after two cards. This extra wagering can add up to a ton of chips on the table. It could payoff really well if you beat the dealer on each hand or the dealer does bust.
